Application

Character name: Jane Foster
Series: Thor (Marvel Cinematic Universe)
Age: Mid 20s
Job: Camp Astrologer

Canon:Thor Odinson —Asgardian God of Thunder and Lightning, is destined to wear the crown and take over the throne after his father. But due to being pretty much an arrogant and war-hungry prick making bad decisions, a disappointed Odin instead strips Thor of his powers and rights to be ruler of Asgard and sends him into exile to Earth to learn humility. Meanwhile, Thor’s brother Loki discovers he’s not actually Odin’s true son, and in his rage he aspires to achieve the throne for himself. Thor wants to stop him, but he cannot wield his hammer or return home until he has proven his worth. While looking for a way back, he meets Jane Foster, a brilliant astrophysicist with an obsession for wormholes.

To Jane, Science comes with a capital S. It has an answer to everything and she is determined and strong willed enough to go against the advice of many to seek it even if it might pose a danger to both her and others. That includes accidentally running an Asgardian God of Thunder over with her car in her excitement to reach a site of astrophysical activity. She’d stand up, talk back and even get into more trouble if she didn’t have someone to hold her back. Not a damsel in distress and not about to acknowledge what she can’t achieve, Jane believes there will always be a way, no matter how far or hard she has to work to get there. She doesn’t dwell long on the loss of her research when it’s taken from her and decides to start over again from scratch. She’s obstinate, strong, has an independent spirit and is not adverse to thinking outside the box or accept input from other people; she considers all options around her, even from people with no knowledge in her field. She will not wait for things to happen since she'll get into action and fix things herself to the best of her abilities even if that sometimes means breaking a rule or two. She’s a (kinda) socially inept science geek, tends to ramble and go on a tangent about the subject of wormholes and science, and meeting Thor is new and strange as she’s not used to his behaviour. She’s incredibly awkward around him at first, unsure how to act, before they develop feelings for each other.

Note: ”Enstein Rosen-bridge” is another name for a black hole.

Tell us about yourself in a few words.
I’m Dr. Jane Foster, astrophysicist. That means I look at stars and search for Enstein Rosen-bridges in particular, because they’re part of my research. I guess you can call me Jane, if you want.

Why are you joining our happy community?
Joining? Ha ha, no I think you’ve got that part wrong. I’m only here to look at that anomalous particle phenomena sighting that was reported close-by. You know, the one you guys contacted me about? You sent me some really strange readings, and I’ll stay until I’ve figured out what’s going on, but that’s it.

What is your job here at CFUD? What do you think that means?
Well, first of all, I’m not an astrologer. I’m an astrophysicist. It’s not the same thing. Astrology has no real scientific basis no matter what people say. I’d stay around and explain it to you more in depth, but honestly, I have no time for it. Second... you’re making this sound like a full time job instead of a short visit.

What would you consider to be your “soul” animal and why? (this is for purely scientific purposes and will not have consequences during your stay at all. Trust us! :))
Why are you even asking me this? Astrology and science have no real connection. That’s what you mean by “soul” animal, right? Astrology is made out of random interpretations of a stars certain position to come up with a fortune of some kind that mostly just never comes true; Astrophysics means you deal with the physics of the universe, not how the position of the stars “affects” our lives, or telling people how to live their lives. I can... I can admit there’s some merit to study the stars for stuff like this, and that you can always find something to work with, I guess. But I would never rely on it to that point for myself. Unless someone proves me wrong about astronomy, I’d rather keep to real facts.

Do you think you are good in a crisis? Why?
What— why’re you asking me that? Can anyone even be good in a crisis? Of course, I’m not saying I’d just idly sit by, especially if it includes people I know about, but there’s only so much a regular person can do. It might not be much, but I would do my very best to help. That should be good enough, right?

Even when running people over by car?
That was an accident! Er... accidents. I mean, that wasn’t even a crisis, he was fine! Okay, let’s move on...

What if the crisis involved the end of the world? Please explain.
I think I’ve had my fill of that kind of thing, actually, but if it happened again, I’d... well, I guess I’d lend my hand. In the science area, I mean. I’m not a superhero, like some people.

Do you find these questions increasingly unnerving? Why/Why not?
Yes. Yes they kind of are, and I don’t see what they have to do with astrophysics? If there’s a point to all of this, please get to it.

Can you perform a flawless headshot? If not, and if your life depended on it, how many hours a week would you be willing to spend on the shooting range?
Iiii don’t use firearms, and I don’t like them much, but if my life depended on it? Sure, I’d do it as best as I could... why a headshot, though?

Would you be able to dispose of the flesh of the undead? How?
W-what? I don’t see what that has to do with a questionnaire about a camp... This is an astronomy campsite, right? Why else would you contact me? Look, I’d really like to see that anomaly of yours but if you’re not going to help me, then please point me to the closest transport back to civilization. I have work to do. Astrophysics work.
